I was a senior member of a design team working to produce a suite of premium AOL products and services to operate on the Microsoft Windows Smartphone, including AIM, AIM Mail, News, Sports, Weather, Moviefone, MapQuest, Calendar, Address Book and Search. I designed the primary navigation menu and produced the visual design and graphic elements for the interface. In addition, I developed the C# code to apply the graphics and enable the navigation menu.
AOL branded mobile products and services were developed internally and by third-party application service providers. There was a need to design and evaluate mobile products using a set of principles that would ensure deliver of usable product designs. I led the effort to define the following set of guiding principles for designing mobile products:
Principle One: Know the Mobile User
Principle Two: Focus on the Task at Hand
Principle Three: Deliver Value on Any Device
Principle Four: Design for the Mobile Environment
Principle Five: Achieve Success With Ease of Use

One of my responsibilities at AOL Mobile was defining and managing the design requirements for downloadable mobile versions of AOL Instant Messenger, deployed by Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Cingular, and AT&T Wireless. I worked with business partners and application service providers to ensure the proper application of design principles and AOL branding requirements. I produced product design and usability guidelines for third-parties developers to best represent the brand and ensure deployment of quality mobile products.
